SPACEPORT KIDS LIBRARY
This project is centered around the concept of outer space, drawing inspiration from the innate sense of wonder that the stars and the universe evoke, especially in children. The idea is to create a space that sparks curiosity and encourages exploration, much like the feeling of looking up at the night sky for the first time. The design aims to channel this energy into a library environment, where learning and discovery are at the forefront. From the moment one enters, the design evokes a sense of excitement and anticipation, balanced with a calm and focused atmosphere to ensure the space remains functional and conducive to learning. Instead of overwhelming bright colors, the design incorporates subtle, illuminated details on ceilings, walls, and floors, adding texture and ambiance to different areas of the library. These lighting elements create a dynamic yet serene environment, keeping users engaged without distracting from the library's purpose.
The library includes various functional spaces, such as study rooms, a printing area, and a manager’s office, all designed with a more academic aesthetic to align with the educational mission of the library. Additionally, the space integrates a coffee shop within the library, aiming to promote reading and learning among parents and visitors. The coffee shop features large bookshelves with light fixtures and dark-tinted wood, creating a futuristic, spaceship-like ambiance while maintaining a warm and inviting atmosphere. This dual-purpose space not only serves as a hub for education but also as a social area where people can relax, enjoy a coffee, and immerse themselves in literature. The overall design seeks to balance creativity and functionality, offering a unique experience that inspires curiosity and learning for visitors of all ages.
